Fabric weight, is expressed in GSM or grams per m2. Fabric weight influences other fabric properties such as thickness, flexural rigidity, bending rigidity, drape, air permeability and thermal properties. For example, the lighter the fabric, the lower its bending rigidity.

Big Bags are most commonly made of woven polypropylene, a polymer that, like other materials, is damaged by exposure to sunlight over time. This degradation process can ultimately cause the fabric to tear when exposed to strain. Fortunately, through the use of UV stabilizers in the polymer and the proper handling of FIBCs, the risk of photochemical damage can be reduced to a minimum.

Measurement Methods of the Mechanical Properties of Fabrics

Our machine is capable of testing more than 30,000 lbs. of force to verify the safe working load (SWL) of our FIBCs. We top lift test our bags in accordance with the ISO 21898 Standard Packaging Flexible Intermediate Bulk Containers
